So much for once-a-week updates. But I don’t really have much to update with, other than several WIPs. Progress on the Garden comic is going v. slowly, since I’m pretty concerned about the design aspect of it — the previous version of p.2 doesn’t look the way I want it to look. NW has kind of stalled because I keep trying to figure out how I want to draw it. I’m planning to post a page by Monday, though, whether I manage to draw it well or not.
Some junk:

I’ve been testing a particular set of brushes repeatedly in an attempt to familiarize myself with them, but it isn’t really working out. It may be a stylistic thing; these brushes are good for putting down large areas of color but not so good for detail. There isn’t, of course, any rule that says that I can’t use multiple brushes in a drawing; it’s just that I want to confirm that in a practical sense.

I figure since I finally managed to make this entire blog work properly, I may as well use it more often. :I
Right-click and view to see at the proper size. This is one of those instances where I actually like the B&W lines better than the colors, bizarrely (for me), but since Mari isn’t an important character and likely will never be on any of the chapter covers, I wanted to color her in a bit.

. . . Of course, now I have to wonder how to draw her in the comic itself, since Leliel, who is blonde and gray-eyed, will also be shaded this way. They don’t look anything alike, but I dislike using the same color/shading system for multiple characters.
Here’s the process for the drawing I was working on in the previous entry.

Ugh, I should know by now that upgrading WordPress is far more bother than it’s worth. This go-round I dealt with about two hours of the inexplicable White Screen of Death, then had to spend several hours reconstructing the old layout from essentially nothing. Great times.
Here is the latest WIP. It’s not done yet because I’ve been drawing comic pages in the meantime. Or would have been if I hadn’t been trying to fix the layout.
